“Whitehead, a New York financier, frequented the opera and hobnobbed with the rich like they were family. He planned to show us around town and introduce us to a few connections that evening, but needed to make a few calls first. Lisa and I parked ourselves in the lavish living room of his condo while he picked up the phone in another room. As we sat there, another phone rang.

Whitehead hollered from the other room, “Hey Jim, can you answer that? I’m expecting that call. Whatever they need, take the order and tell them we’ve got it covered. If you have questions, you can find most answers in the books on the table.”

I looked at Lisa and shrugged before picking up the phone. “Hello, this is Jim. Robert’s on another call, but I am happy to help.”

The guy on the other line wanted to confirm an order. The instant he chirped the manufacturer and product name, my eyebrows raised. I remember thinking this would be fun. So, I immediately rolled my shoulders and got into character. My acting skills were about to pay off.”
